I grew up next door to Salem, in Marblehead, you should visit BOTH towns. Salem has a strong history, starting with the witch trials in the 1600's. It also has a much stronger history from the 1800's with sailing and trade. The Peabody Museum is an excellent place to go and see all the neat stuff they have from all over the world. Salem at one point was the capital of Mass. It was one of the largest seaports for trade at one time.
If you're into the witch thing, it's gotten out of hand. It's become so commercialized and touristy. But hey, if that's your thing. Also, the House of Seven Gables is a neat thing to go see.
Be warned though, alot of street people and rather unsavory characters roam about the streets.
If you like big crowds, long lines and over priced attractions, go during the month of October. You'll see ALOT of freaks.
The history of Salem is great. If you are a history buff, you'll love that area. Get over into Marblehead, the Birthplace of the U.S. Navy. And Elbrige Gerry(signer on the Declaration of Independence) was born and grew up there, if you know anything about politics and the term Gerrymandering. It's neat, and there is quite a suprise in Abbot Hall, the Original Spirit of '76 painting hangs there.

first of all-you are going to pay too plenty-it fairly is basically the industry there. do no longer flow to Lynn {"Lynn, Lynn, the city of sin - the girls say no yet they continuously provide in"} - and the coverage companies comprehend that there is not any such element as "a effective part of Lynn." The "historic district" of Salem is fairly expensive and a super variety of regulations and regulations. super scandal in public colleges there now; former head of funds for colleges grow to be cooking the books, so they are scrambling for hundreds of thousands and laying off instructors. in the experience that your little ones are going to non-public college, then no problemo. Use commuter rail in case you are able to to Boston, however the better you progression faraway from city, the longer the trip by way of practice{one million/2 hr from Salem} or maybe longer by way of vehicle; parking in Boston demands a monetary enterprise own loan! LOL "Witchcraft Heights" has a super variety of single relatives residences, outfitted interior the late 60's early 70's with yards; different factors of city would be alot older.
