I am neutral and I thought it wasn't the worst referee. I think the game was quite fair and any decisions the ref made could've gone either way. He gave a lot of decisions against France aswell as Brazil and the only really harsh decision against Brazil was when he penalised ronaldinho for no reason when he was making progress. I don't think Brazil deserved to win and I think even if the referee had gone a different way about some of his decisions, the result would've ended up the same.
Compared to most referee's I have seen in this competition, he was not that bad. Of course, he could have been a lot better but I think it must be hard for referees in the world cup with everyone watching and the tv can show things from different angles and zoom up close, showing what really happened, but the referees have to just go on what they see from their point of view and from what the assistant thinks. From what other referees have been like (and considering they are all the "best" of their countries) I think he must've done the best he could so calm down man!
By the way he was spanish and his name was Luis Medina Cantalejo. I'm guessing he became a referee by going to a school for referees and passing many fitness tests.

The last poster is an obvious idiot who's anti-Italian and stupid when it comes to soccer. The ref's was more on Brazils side then France and it was a foul in the box with italy. (Note) I hate all three teams and also stupid ignorant people like you.

i am not anti italian, i think italy would have won in overtime but in reality that was not a penalty but it pass and i dont care
also i dont think the ref help brazil or france. he was ok in this one
like him i dont like the teams

who cares he sucked..he is from Spain..bitter SOB...you'd think he'd side with Brasil...but oh well...Henry was offsides SO MANY TIMES TONIGHT...one time his goal would stand....
