Any new metal that has an edge stands out a little

i have listen to metal since i was a lil squirt
just kind of out of the music for sometime or should i say stuck with what i knew
pantera, slayer, megadeath, iron madien,metallica
just wanted to finds some current metal that stands up to or at least could hold there own agianst the best

Hell yeah, in fact all good metal is as underground and far away from mainstream as you can get.
For death metal, check out ARSIS. After that I suggest Necrophagist, Krisiun, Immolation, Severed Savior, Psycroptic, or Cryptopsy.
Good new black metal would be Drudkh, 1349, or Xasthur. A band that's still putting out excellent albums after many years is Darkthrone.
Do a little searching and DON'T listen to anything that MTV tells you to.

Well there really aren't too many true metal bands out there that are mainstream.. deftones is not metal... But right now there are tons of good metal bands around.. lamb of god, mastodon, kreator just put out a good new cd, OPETH, strapping young lad, if you have more extreme tastes check out cryptopsy, job for a cowboy, nile, and behemoth just to name a few.. there are lots metal sites that give reviews of metal bands, thats always a way to find new bands..

My husband grew up as a metal head and he's not into mainstream at all and it seems that everyone has the same generic sound.
He has recently got into Coheed and Cambria, although it may not be everbodies cup of tea. One thing I like about them it that they are not so pretty... they are real musicians, not some commercial mould for what the record companies think will sell.
Try them out for yourself and be the judge.

Goblin Co*K, Priestess, Bad Wizard, The Sword. Nebula. Distubed my buttcrack. The deftones are not very "metal" but I like them none the less. There is a lot of good "metal" out there but you are not gonna find on Mtv or ****** Blender or some other crap mag.

Children of Bodom and Týr are both relatively new and not mainstream.
Especially Týr, they're a Folk Metal band from the Faeroe Islands and are so unheard of that not even most people who are obsessed with Metal have heard them.

Nope.
Slayer is cool. isn't new,but thier lyrics and rock.Thier latest album was in 2001 i think.Man,that stuff makes me want to kill.

No new bands really, but deftones is really cool, and other cool bands are godsmack, disturbed, but don't listen to metal if you don't like it!
