Smart because smart people can figure out ways to over come the "looked based" foibles of society. And when it comes right down to it the smart people will be the ones to survive just check out any disaster movie or our own evolution. Adaptability can only come from intelligence. So, smart will always prevail!! But, looking good has it's plus margin if you are a media hound if you notice no one really cares what happens to the buttugly people of the world and it is in and of it self tragic...

How ugly? I'm not trying to be smart asking that, but it is a logical question. Real ugly is a tremendous social barrier, as is real pretty in some circles. The prettiest people I've met tell me that they oft have trouble finding real people to date them. Average folks run from their over the top beauty. it scares them.
In the end smarts is the best bet for success and happiness.
So, assuming I have 2 eyes, nose, 2 ears and a mouth plus SMART, I'll take them as the best odds to a good life.

Smart and ugly because:
a)good looks are temporary
b)intelligence can help you understand what you truly need to be happy and provide you the means to achieve it.
c)sex appeal is based not just on looks but also on power, humor and personality, which are things acquired/enhanced with brains.

Smart and ugly.
Here's why: If I'm smart, I will probably have a great job and make lots of money. Then I can use that money to have plastic surgery and look beautiful.
If you're unintelligent, you're just screwed.

Looks are completely irrelevant when judging one's personality or any of those other nice qualities. Therefore, I would rather have corn flakes and random peices of trash hot-glued to my face and be a little bit smarter than be a little bit dumber and be the best looking person on Earth. Besides, death metal is easier to do when you're ugly :)
