One side of a street has odd numbers, the other side even.
Occasionally a number may skip on the same side of a street. This can occur when a residence occupies two lots, thus skipping one "lot address".

One may find at times an extension of a very old street, and numbers may vary. If the same street makes a 90 degree turn , the numbers will follow the order of the streets running in parallel.

The numbers on one side of the street end in an odd number, while the numbers on the other side of the street end in even numbers.
Many times there are spaces in between these numbers, to allow for new construction, or the tearing down and rebuilding of a house or building.

I think they do that so that some day if they build another house there are more addresses available in between. So the new house doesnt have to go by "137 and a half".

it really depends on how old the neighborhood is. for instance some homes have been removed or torn down. if a home has been remove that house number gets removed also. it truly depends on the area and new or renovated properites.
