If it's just a bit, it could be normal. Some babies just have gunkier eyes than others. If her eye is gunked closed or you are picking huge amounts out every morning (or you're just worried), bring her to the doctor.

unless the eye is pink or red and itchy its not pink eye. sounds to me like she has a clogged tear duct for some reason. the only thing you can really do is gently wipe the eye from the inside to the corner (with the eye closed) with a warm damp cloth to get the crust out, and if the baby will let you every now and then lay a warm damp towel over the eye to help open up the tear duct. if it doesn't go away in a week call the pediatrician as it could be caused by an allergy infection. this happens to my kids sometimes and it usually goes away on its own within a couple of days.

its more than likely a clogged tear duct. Doctors can give you drops for it or it will eventially do its own thing my nephew had this and it took 8 months to get over. If the yellow stuff coming oout of the eye is a constant thing all day, and it is followed by the red eye, and your child is cranky suspect pink eye.

I had that problem when I was a child, and I do not know what it is called. It was so bad on some days, I could not open an eye until it was cleaned off with a washcloth and warm water.

I grew out of it.

I would still strongly suggest seeing a doctor about it, but it is probably nothing important.

She may have an eye cold. When my son had his i applied baby oil on the softest tissue i could find and gently pass it over the eye, this helps to keep it clean and does not hurt. If you have breast milk, put 2 drops into the eye, this is the best medicine for this. Hope it works out for you.
Ps: I also did the breast milk in eye, so really does work.

Take her/him to the doctor right away. If it is pinkeye, serious damage could result in delaying treatment. My son had pinkeye, but his eye was not pink. It was watery and crusty/yellow slimy, like what you describe. If your doctor can't get you in in the next few days (likely with the holiday weekend), take them to a medi-center, urgent care center (not emergency room). Pinkeye is very easy to treat, just a few drops in the eyes, after 24 hrs on the drops they are no longer contagious.

It sounds like sticky eye. It is very common in young babies and children. It could be the result of a blocked tear duct, but the Dr will first just tell you to bathe it in saline(salt) water. My son got it when he was 8 weeks old, and I just bathed it in saline water and wiped the gunk away every time it appeared and within 2 days it was clear again.

Try the saline, and remember is symptoms persist, see your Dr! :)

Sounds like conjunctivitis. Clean it with saline (salty water) from the inside of the eye out. Use tissue only once repeat if necessary. Until you can contact her doctor! You will need to get some special eye drops to treat it properly!!!

sounds more like a clogged tear duct than pink eye, but you probably want a Dr to look at it anyway...

my baby girl (2-4 months old, if memory serves) had clogged ducts... Dr said to gently massage the corner of the eye (w/ clean hands!) and down along where the duct runs to encourage the tears to move along the duct.
