is she spitting up any of what you give her? if yes.. your feeding her too much
does she seems fussy after she eats? if yes.. your feeding her too much
try giving her something to chew on.. does it keep her happy? if yes.. you probably dont need to feed her..
is she drinking more than 26 oz of milk a day? if so.. your feeding her to much milk and its time to switch to solids..
in my experience: my daughter (complete newborn) ate about an oz-3oz every 2-3 hours.. by the time she was 2 1/2 months she was eating 26 oz a day.. my doctor switched her to solids at this point.. currently my daughter is just under average on weight (always has been) and way over on height..
some advice from my doctor: if your worried your baby isnt eating enough.. look at her... as long as she's growing "up" there's no need to worry that she isnt growing "out" if she's still growing at all.. she's healthy..
a tip: when your feeding your baby, take the bottle away after every ounce.. wait a minute.. and then give the bottle back.. does she go back to feeding? if she doesnt.. then you now know what her comfort level is on feeding and you can cut back...babies tend to eat as much as you'll give them and dont always know when to stop.. but if you break away and then offer it again a little while later, they wont always take it again if they're full.

Yes! It is possible to over feed an infant. However, it isn't that common. Most likely she isn't getting all that she needs when you are feeding her. If you are breast feeding then you might want to talk to your doctor to make sure you are producing enough milk. If you are formula feeding her then she might be ready for more ounces. If you are having a hard time getting her to eat more at one time try burping her more often through out the feeding. Also try putting her on a schedule. I know it might sound mean to some people, but it helps her to realize when she is hungry and will get her to eat more. I could go on and on, but I will stop there and let you work from there. Good luck.

A newborn should eat an ounce or 2 every two to three hours. Isnt that what the nurses had you doning in the hospital. But once you get home just feed the baby if shes hungry....no newborn knows how to be greedy...if shes full she will stop sucking believe me

At such a young age your babies brain is developing rapidly but still in the early stages, the simple answer to you question is NO. You cant feed your child too much at this age because she will simply though up all she doesn't need. The advice giving by all doctors is let her feed until she stops sucking. If you are really worried Professor Ian Greer suggests that 6 times in 24 hours as a guide but up to 10 times in 24 hours is not unusual

You can't over feed a newborn. You should nurse on demand, whenever she is hungry. At one week old, she is about to grow, so expect her to eat a little more. Besides, how would you feel not having nutrition in your stomach for 9 months? :)

My kids all came home from the hospital drinking 5oz. every 2 hours. Feed her when she is hungry, try to get her to take a little more at each feeding, and hopefully she won't want to eat so often. Congrats on your new bundle, and good luck!

You can't overfeed your infant at this stage. She will let you know when she is hungry. If you overfeed her she will spit-up whatever you fed her. As long as she is keeping it down then you aren't overfeeding her. If she cries b/c she is hungry, then feed her. She needs all the nutrition she can get right now. If you have any concerns that she is eating too much check with her pediatrician.

It does seem like a lot. She may not be hungry. Newborns also need to be just held. Make sure her diaper is clean, etc. Get the book "The Baby Whisperer" it has helped me a lot.

Feed her when she is hungry. Newborns have very small stomachs and need to eat frequently.
