One good site is http://www.the-underdogs.info/ which has a lot of "abandonware" games on it. Since a lot of the old DOS games are pretty low as far as hard drive space goes, you should be able to find a few while on dial-up. The abandoware entry on wikipedia might also point you in the right direction.

You should try visiting www.dosgames.com. They have over 400 dos games to download and play. They have frequent updates and a lot of the games are full versions. You could also try www.alex-soft.net he has both online and downloadable games.
If you want to find them on your own just type "download old games" into google, or type in "play (game name)". That should help you find the game you want to play.
