Ask your therapist!
Why would you want answers here from geeks and bigots?

If it is a problem, then work it out. IF it reaches a crisis, then do something about it. You and I both know that if you choose to change gender, it is a one way street. And the end of the street is not always what one would think it to be. So many things can go wrong along the way. I have had many friends, a few of them made the decision to go through the whole change deal...One died within three years of congestive heart failure due to the hormones that the change required, another had a botched job and cound never experience an orgasm again, many ran out of money and got stuck in between. The whole deal is very sad...and I feel for you. And you CANNOT let it go..if you could, it wouldn't be a problem, would it? Hang in there and see what happens. You will know in time what is going on. Good luck in your journey.

If it's a GOOD therapist, they'll help you with what exactly is going on. Not all gender identity issues fit the bill for GID (and, some that probably should, don't. sadly, but that's a seperate issue). If this came out of the blue, and you were otherwise happy with your life...I'd say that's a little odd and I might seek a second opinion. But if it makes sense to you, definitely figure yourself out.

do you feel more comfortable as the other gender? if no one knew if you were male or female, what would you want them to see you as?
i think you should completely follow these issues, but only with the help of your therapist. if you should decide that you want to go through with something like a sex reassignment surgery, you're going to need to have spent a good number of hours with a licensed therapist who specializes in gender identity issues before they will even look at doing your surgery.
but no matter what, continue to see your therapist, he/or she will be the best place for advice of how to deal with your gender identity issues.

Gender identity for therapists means self acceptance. This means finding out who you are and being comfortable with those choices, and yes in many cases they are CHOICES. I chose to have a gay relationship and be out to my kids. I could have chosen to stay hetero. Follow your lust, but remember what is in your heart. In the end it may not matter what the gender is, as long as, it fills your heart.

do you think it's a problem? If you want to change yourself, keep going... If you're happy with who you are dump them and move on with your life. If you still want to talk to someone, check you local community center or "gay" yellow pages for a more accepting therapist.

Why did you go to a therapist in the first place? if you didn't have issues...talk to your therapist (or another) about this issue...don't rely on people on this site to guide you .
