Try relating your songs to past expiriences or things that you've heard about. Maybe feelings or things that annoy you or make you happy. Also try finding inspiration, and try to make a few quick ideas to inprove on later. Quick tiny notes such as:

I step outside,
And close my eyes,
Feel around,
To my despise,
Its not there anymore,

Maybe refering to a long lost person, or missing someone.

Try finding a place where you feel a free and peacefull sensation. Do things you have to do in your everyday life, to avoid having to think about them when your trying to get inspiration, or to write songs.

You could write about:

Nature
Freedom
Love
Originality
Loyalty
Animals
Past Life
Expiriences.

Anything you want. try getting yourself a rhyming book, and maybe link words together as in:

Pain=Sain
Cat=Mat
Someone=Run, Sun

If you clear your head it should come very easily.

Dude! You got the cart before the horse.
Get your band together, set up a tape recorder and start jaming, start playing and singing what you feel. Music comes from the heart and soul. Inspiration comes and goes, sing what you feel. Good luck

sit down with pen & paper and just start writing whatever comes to mind. don't think so much, just let the thoughts flow and write....always ALWAYS keep a pen and paper with you so if you're say, on the beach, and these great lyrics come to you, you can jot them down because you probably won't remember them later the way you first thought of them. Good luck!
