Is this just a natural change in the weather patterns that happens every 100 years or so, or could it be from global warming or something else?

It seems that the water in the oceans has warmed up by 1-2 degrees F and that is causing the change in weather patterns. From what I gather, this will last about 30 years, and then will change again.

The sun's "temperature" is increasing. The sun irradiates energy with rythmic patterns of increases and decreases. Little "ice ages" over the last 1000 years correspond to decreasing amounts of solar activity while increases of solar activity caused the increase the earth's temperature. We are now in what may be the strongest solar activity every recorded. Thus, the earth warms and storms get stronger. I suggest you reject the foolish "global warmists" who blame man for heating up the earth with pollutants and, I kid you not, too many cows that fart. Neither human activity nor cow farts cause atmospheric phenomena. The sun's energy does.

Its interesting to see how quickly reactionaries come up with and answer. The truth is we don't know. Statistically there has not been any notable change in the numbers or severity of weather related events. There have always been periods of drought and severe storms. The smart thing to do is to minimize any potential human influence which could negatively affect weather patterns and the environment in general. There is widespread disagreement on what actions should be taken. You know how to change the weather? If you don't like it where you are, there is always somewhere else.

HAHA.... See we have info about weather patterns that date back like....hmmm 300 years. Well our earth has been around for how many millions of years..... Well my guess is that this has happened before, and just because its the first time it has happened within our lifetime does not mean its Global Warming.....

Most people you ask don't believe it, but the raising if the earths mean temperature ( through gloabal warming ) is causing most of it. As the earths surface temperature warms it heats the surface temperature of the oceans. When wind blows across the water it heats and rises. When it meets the cooler air in the atmosphere, the cold air drops suddenly causing hurricanes. When the hurricanes heat land they can turn to tornadoes. The other problem is that as the polar caps melt, the oceans water level raises. This is one of the major factors in flooding. Checdk out the HBO special " to hot not to handle".

Global warming has increased the temperature of the Atlantic ocean causing bigger and stronger storms, much as it did before the last ice age. The earth has a continuous cycle it goes through century after century,we are experiencing this one.

Rest assured. It is not the result of an increase in sins in the country shooting up the divine spirit. Neither it is the showers of abuses heaped on us by the terrorists fervently appealing their god to burst upon us. This is a natural but also not so naturala cataclysm that is in process not only here but elsewhere in the world also. We can do little to stop it other than alleviate the sufferings by proper remedial steps. We could also help delay this inevitable by being a little more social awareness of pollution and steps to counter it

Global Warming. It's a worldwide issue.

Nope, not global warming. It is caused by pollution particles in our atmosphere reflecting the sun's rays back into space. Just the opposite of global warming.

Hi, it could be a little of all of the above, but I have another answer too. It is a spiritual one. The Blessed Mother is appearing all over the world with statues crying tears and tears of blood. (Scientists have approved some of these, one I know of is Akita Japan where the statue has cried 101 times). The Blessed Mother who started appearing on June 24, the feast of St. John the Baptizer at Medjugorje Yugoslavia has said that mankind is standing on the edge of a precipice. She is coming to warn mankind to return to God through prayer, fasting on bread and water Wed. and Fri. (The early Church did this too) and forgiving those who have hurt us. She said at Akita (l981)that many calamities are going to envelope the world man-made and natural disaters would increase so as to warn the world to return to God. If mankind does not repent she said the Eternal Father would send a unprecedented fire for the sky destroying a great part of humanity sparing priest nor faithful. She said to pray much for priests because Satan (yes he does exist) would infiltrate the Church in such a way that you would see Cardinals opposing Cardinals, Bishops against Bishops. Many preists and clergy would accept compromise and forsake their vows of purity. (haven't we seen this lately?) In Medjugorje and other apparitions sites unexplained solar miracles are taking place in the sky. She said that God would not punish the world without warning. In Garabandal Spain she says that a great moment is approaching where everyone will see themselves as God sees them, then within a year a supernatural sign would be left in all the places she is appearing and if mankind then does not repent a great fire of chastisement will befall mankind. She said not to wait until the sign is left because it will be too late for conversion. She is like John the Baptist coming to remind us of the great and terrible day of the Lord is approaching because the world has become so wicked. There was many supernatural events that took place in Garabandal. The visionaries would walk backwards on rocky tererain and not fall, they gracefully levitated and a Eucharistic host appeared on one of the girls tongues to show the true presence of Jesus present in the Eucharist after the consecration at Mass. (only the Catholics and Orthodox believe this and only they can consecrate the bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ because of a valid priesthood, Protestants do not have this thanks to John Wycliff and Martin Luther). Don't despair there is hope and if you turn your life over to God and start living His commandments you have nothing to fear. Maureen
