I wasn't able to have an epidural, so I remember the pain very well. I had to have the doctor break my water. That was a weird feeling- warm water running down your legs. About 30 minutes after that, my contractions started coming quick and hard. I honestly thought I would throw up with each contraction, but I didn't. Pushing was awful, especially those few last pushes, when her head was almost out. I remember feeling myself rip open, and that was when she came out. Afterwards, as my doctor was sowing me up, I remember shaking violently because of the pain. My teeth were chattering, and my entire body was convolsing. Am I going to be crazy enough to do this again? Most definately yes.

Your stomach muscles tighten and loosen , and you have no control over them. They tighten in a hard knot, and that is when, it feels like giant hands trying to rip your stomach from your body.
If you do not know the sex of the baby, you will, when the baby is coming down the vaginal canal. A girl will make it hurt more toward the front of the vagina, and a boy will make it hurt more toward the rectum.
After the baby is born your stomach will still relax and contract, but each one will be less than before. This could go on for up to four hours.
When you are holding your little one you forget all about the pain
and feel a warm glow. You feel Happy and special.
Good luck
Hope

I can be the worst thing to ever go through or one of the best experiences of your life. This depends on how you prepare for the birth. I suggest you have a good labor coach, go to Lamaze, fill a birthing plan out & ask alot of questions. I have 5 children & all of their births where quite different. With my first I was 17 & thought that I knew everything.I learned rather quickly that I didn't once active labor hit me. I didn't take Lamaze or perpare for any of it (I wish that I had)... It was awful. With my second child things where so much better because I knew what to expect as far as pain etc... I knew to breath with contractions & not to try to fight them by holding my breath. If the pain is your biggest fear the you can get a epidural, I hear those are like the wonder drug of labor & delivery. Most women will agree that all the pain you endure during labor is forgotten & well worth it once you hold you precious new baby in your arms

this is how a friend described it to me and I found it to be true. I am sorry that this is a little gross. Imagine that you cannot have a bowel movement for a long time (say a couple of months) finally you get the hospital and you get to go. You push and strain and it hurts like anything and it burns but at the same time it is such a relief and you feel this strong urge to push no matter what the pain. Sorry gross I know.

All i can say is epidural.....girl when i hit 4 centimeters and they broke my water i got that epidural asap.....just remember....once the water breaks....that is when the pain comes....with epidural it get kind of cold....and after you have it....its the best thing in the world.....now when they put it in your back...a nurse will hold your hands....if he or she dosent be sure to have someone hold your hands because the thought of the needle going into your back can be scary but you only feel a little prick then pressure....giving birth.....your first baby....well mine didnt hurt at all.....just a little pressure.....after baby is out.....you have a big relief and you just start to cry....girl makes me want to have a baby...lol......its the best experience....i went through it twice my kids are 10months apart....just know the more kids you have....the worse the cramps are afterwards

they have medicines for the pain, I highly recomend an epidural. It's not as bad as you think, and it is WELL worth it. To me it was more like hard cramps but nothing I could not handle. I was scared to death my first time but to tell you the truth, the pain is not a part of the memory just how precious my child was.

During the pushing part it feels like horrible pressure mostly in your bottom.. During crowning it BURNS more pressure pulling apart very unpleasant feeling. Early labor is just severe cramping and pain as the cervix dialates back pain and general irration and you sweat. .

Bill Cosby's wife said it was like pinching your lower lip between your fingers as hard as you could...and then pulling it over your head and stapling it to the back of your neck.
