Fish eat as much as they need. If they don't need to eat, or they're not hungry, they won't.

Let the Goldfish have time in his new surrondings. She might not be very useful to the enviroment. What are you putting the goldfish in? Is it in a big tank with a filter and everything else? Or is it in a fish bowl? If it is in a fish bowl then it is natural for the fish not to eat. If it is in the tank then she will eat much more once she/he trust you. I KNOW! Are you giving the Comet Goldfish his correct food? All fish foods are different. Check the title and if it doesn't not say Comet goldfish food then go to the store and find aleast goldfish food.

Return it. This is an assumption, as an experieced fish keeper rarely asks this question, and you cant really single out fish in pond. Comet golfish get to well over 2 FEET. This means you will need almost 200-300 gallons for a single fish. Put comets in ponds. Even fancy goldfish need 15 gals each

If the only problem is his appetite he is probably fine. Long as he isn't losing color, swimming regularly, and have no lesion or spot on his body he is okay. Also how much are you feeding him a single gold fish only need the slightest pinch of food, as a matter of fact it should only be enough food for him to eat in 3 to 5 minutes. Lastly what kind of tank is he in. If the tank is too small or if there is no filtration system on the tank he is probably more worried about the quality of the water.

Is he eating at all? A goldfish that doesn't eat is a sick goldfish. How long have you had it? What size tank is he in? Are there other fish with him? Any other signs of sickness?

It takes a few days for a new fish to know that there's food at the top. But the food will sink down and the fish will eat it, soon it will know that there is food at the top.
