I definitely know I'm prejudiced against teenage girls. They get under my skin like no other group of people. They're mean, nasty, thoughtless, and stupid. I don't remember being like that when I was their age, but maybe my nose was just too far up my own butt to see it.
I'm also prejudiced against uneducated people. This is one that I'm not proud of, especially since I'm a teacher. Don't confuse the term "uneducated" with "poor." I don't like people who are content to be ignorant. Education is free in this country, and so are libraries. Get yours!
This means I'm also prejudiced against people who have awful grammar and spelling skills. The worst ones are the people who don't use spell check. It's made for them!!! Grammar & spelling have always come easy for me. That doesn't make it okay for me to loathe people who have a hard time with it, but I totally do.
I'm prejudiced against people who use drugs. This includes alcohol. I think drugs are for people too weak to live their lives, and too lame & boring to be interesting without drugs.
This means I'm also prejudiced against people who are entirely too open with their thought. I'm talking about the people who don't think there's ever a right and a wrong. These tend to be people who think you're actually threatening to molest their children when all you're trying to do is make the point that if you wanted to molest their children, and there was no moral absolute that said molesting children was wrong, it would be okay to do it. Some things in life are non-negotiable. Quit thinking you're better than everyone else because you're so open to new trains of thought and take a stance against something.
I'm prejudiced against people who receive compensation from the government. I know not everyone who relies on the government is too lazy to work harder & make better decisions for themselves, but I have a tendency to assume that they are.
I'm prejudiced when I know I'm in a poor area & see a black man walking down the street. I lock my car doors. This one is hard to admit to, because it sounds so backwards and bigoted. It's true though. The poor area in my city is predominantly black. I had a bad experience once in this area, and it's affected my fear. It's not a good thing that I think that way. I'm not usually racist.
I'm prejudiced against gay people with lisps. I'm especially talking about the guys who didn't have the lisp until they came out of the closet. It certainly doesn't help their stance that being gay isn't a choice. You can be gay without sounding like you're from San Francisco.
Last but not least, I'm prejudiced against people who like Vin Diesel movies. I don't think I should have to explain why.

The general American public - because most of them can't read above an 8th grade level and are not true citizens, as the word citizen is described. They also believe that something is OWED to them for whatever reason they come up with and all of them have prejudices that prevent them from using an open mind and critical thinking. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. I work at the front desk of a hotel and I have learned to hate them more and more everyday. There are some that try to attempt to break this prejudice, but if they talk long enough, I learn that they are just as ignorant as the last person who checked in. They either hate blacks, or jews, or young people, or old people, or their neighbors, or their mother-in-laws, or fat people, or people who are too skinny, or people who have too plump of a nose, or people who don't wear the "right" kind of shoes, or just people. My point is, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, comes in with some sort of hatred and THATS what makes postal workers and anyone else who works directly with the public go "postal".....there's only so much hate one person can take. And then it cycles to the next person and to the next.
Why aren't we focused on how we can help our brothers and sisters, instead of how we can knock them down every chance we get? Is that the only way we can feel good about ourselves anymore?

RE:
Can you list your prejudices and why?
The Winner Chosen will be the person who is most honest and aware of their shadows, demons, prejudices, intolerances and know they are the most subtle ones. We all have prejudices, but being aware of them is being able to change into tolerance for all differences.

Things Fall Apart - Chinua Achebe - best historical fiction I've ever read. The Swan Thieves - Elizabeth Kostova - another historical fiction (artsy, post-French Revolution) but it's an undertaking. Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte - is also a good historical fiction. Dragon Prince series - Melanie Rawn - my favorite fantasy novels but they involve a lot of politics. Game of Throne books (A Song of Fire and Ice series) - amazing once you skip past the first chapter of the first book because it's so out of place it doesn't make any sense.

I have prejudice against racists because no matter what I always think they are uneducated and they have nothing better to do with their lives.
I also have prejudice against professional athletes, I think that they have no brains left anymore...just muscles..
