try emptying the Deleted messages folder

With Outlook Express open, click on Edit, then go down and click on "Empty 'Deleted Items' Folder"

You don't give much info here; "non-grata" doesn't tell me a whole lot.

Do you normally get "thousands" of messages? per day, per week? Or are you exaggerating? Without specific and certain data, you will not get a specific answer.

Are you sure they are the same messages you deleted? Do the dates of the messages match between the new messages and the deleted ones?

If you have that many messages, it is important to sort them correctly in your view pane of your Inbox. Sort them by Date, so the most recent ones appear at the top. Do this by clicking on the column heading tab called "Received". Now you can see which of the "thousand" messages are recent. Click on it again to reverse the order.

Repost your question with more data if this doesn't work.
