The egg. Dinosaurs were laying eggs millions of years before the chicken came along.

Evolution: During time the chicken evolved from reptiles. Once upon a time a reptile named Bert layed an egg, which happened to be a reptile egg because there was no chicken, therefore it could have not been a chicken egg because the chicken had not existed yet. The egg hatched and out came a chicken that started laying chicken eggs.

Christianity: The beliefe is that God created all things, like the chicken. Well God created the chicken first because it needed to care for the egg and the chick. If the egg came first the chick would have died.

So the answer is the Chicken came first, no according to evolution the egg did NOT come first.

The egg. When the first chicken evolved, it had to hatch from an egg, but the animal that gave birth to that egg would not be a chicken (since the first chicken would have evolved from another animal). However, in order for this new animal to qualify as a chicken in the scientific sense, it would have to have hatched from an egg. Thus, the first egg had to have come from a non-chicken.

All this talk about god and theology, These things have nothing to do with the energies that both the egg as a growing being and the chicken as a living entity produce. Metaphysically speaking they both came into existance at the same time but in seperate energy sequenes and there fore phased into existance at the same time as a chicken with an egg already being formed inside.

People, this is a trick question!

If you say the egg, the asker will say, then how did the egg become to be, if it was before the chicken.

If you say the chicken, the asker will say, then how did the chicken become to be, if it was before the egg.

But wait a minute, I think its the chicken, because in the bible. I think it recalls that God created the animals..

it depends.
Look: if we go by darwin's evolution, then the egg came first, a very similar chicken-like creature laid an egg, its dna mutated and it became the chicken.
however, if we go with the God created earth theory, then the chicken came first, because if the egg would have come, there would have been no chicken to lay it.

Obviously the chicken. For without the chicken there would be no egg. But without the egg there would be no chicken. God created the chicken first!!
