Pay It Forward.
You all know it, don't deny it - and if you don't, you should.
But despite its world-changing views, it really didn't achieve much. Nobody took on board the concept like they did in the movie.
Apathetic world.

I, too, will have to say "Helter Skelter". I saw the movie first, then read the book, and I will never be the same. I must think of the concept of the movie in some context everyday...it has certainly stuck with me like no other movie. Perhaps that's because when I first saw it, I was young and impressionable....the movie scared the bedickens out of me!! And to realize that one hot August night, in my young lifetime (I was only 15), as I slept safe in my bed, these events ACTUALLY were happening on the other side of the U.S.... that is the most mind-boggling part, to witness (through the media) this most horrific event, and to come to the chilling realization that there are actually people out there like Manson and his followers-- really EVIL people. I guess that was the first time I FELT an evil presence in my protected world. I have re-read "Helter Skelter" and I have seen the movie a few times, and I have read other books about Sharon Tate and expose's about the Manson family. I have seen the Manson women cry and apologize, but I can not forgive them. I have read Doris Tate's heart-wrenching tale of losing her beloved daughter, and I cringe, and even grieve , for I have a beautiful beloved daughter of my own now. And I know that the world is not a safe place for her to live. So I pray. And I wonder "Why? Why was this beautiful woman and her only child's lives taken prematurely?" And I try to make sense of that. I see the death photos, the real ones, not the ones blotted out, and I am amazed ,and perhaps heartened, that even in death, Sharon is SMILING-- as the author Greg King says, "a wistful smile". It kinda makes me think that maybe she now knows something we don't, that there is not that much to fear after all. So I continue to hope --for me and my own, and for the rest of the world.

Castaway - How you can be forgetton and even after returning back from a life changing experience your struggle will be far from over
Closer - It was just poignant
Cold Mountain - I found the struggle to return home, moving even though the main character could have found a life and love away from his wife.
The Green Mile - Again a touching film
Unbreakable - A good character study and a study into polar opposition

Better Off Dead.

I was deathly depressed and suicidal, and my best friend took me to see the movie.

Granted, my problems were worse than Lane's, though both my parents were quite good cooks. But the fact that nothing is more constant than change, and that includes change of personal social circumstances, was a real eye-opener for me.

Oddly enough, Adam Sandler's new movie, Click. Although the movie was supported by a lot of cheap humor, it had a strong underlying message: Life is short. Appreciate what you have while you still have time.
