Theo walcott, englands wonder-mascot, might be old enough to play out after dark next time round. So we might have a chance. If McClaren can stop the defence giving the ball back to the other team straight away with 60 yard blind clearances will we keep posession long enough to get it to him? Never mind referees. On the whole they have ruinded the tournament with pointless bookings but, for england, this tounament imo was ruined by Svens lack of confidence in his team and lack of tactical skills. Maybe in the future they will be sent out to play toward the goal they need to score in, not the one they are defending. Maybe the players will make off the ball runs to create space. maybe we will take adequate cover up front next time round...BRING BACK VENABLES!!!

Venables did no better than any other England Manager. I still say the FA have made a mistake by appointing a manager from within the current England set up. They need a man with a bit of vision and passion. They also need someone who doesn't get too close to the bunch of preening 'superstars' that make up the current England squad. The lack of commitment in the team is endemic of the lack of discipline that occurs when a manager gets too close to his players. I think England would have done better to have let the dust settle from this fiasco - and make no mistake that is what it is - and then picked the right man for the job. But then that would have meant someone who doesn't always do his masters bidding.

I think Sven should have given Theo a go...Don't rate Crouch at all. Must say that i think Sven took the wrong squad from the beginning. Would not have taken Owen and probably not Rooney (although his foot held up better than we thought). But saying that I don't think it's down to the manager really. Looking at the players on paper they should be winners. Previous two World Cup England sides had more potential than this lot though. But they just don't play together as a team. FA needs to give special leave to international players to train more together

Hopefully McLaren won't neglect to supply the team with fit strikers.
