A person who has graduated college has demonstrated that they are hard workers who have the discipline to achieve long term goals. A college graduate also, in general, has a better skill set to offer. They have learned language skills(oral and written), mathematical skills, logic skills, and interpersonal skills that are typically more polished and advanced than someone who has just finished high school. There are of course exceptions to the rule for who would be better to hire, but typically those are some of the most common reasons.

Employers think college graduates are better than high school graduates, on the average. That may not always be the case. College graduates are presumably older and more mature. Since they graduated, they showed the ability to work and accomplish something. Those who graduate from college presumably know more than high school graduates. Having a degree helps when it is time for advancement and promotions. I am a retired college graduate. I never had a job where my college education was used or needed.

I don't necessarily agree with the term "better". I am 50 years old, and have worked almost non-stop since I was 17. There are things I've learned that you can't pick up in school. However, because I didn't finish high school, I have had difficulty with other people's perception of my abilities. I am prejudged and passed over for management jobs. I feel I am a competent and fairly intelligent person, but a lot of employers won't look past my school record.
I've met college graduates whose skill and intelligence levels are far below my own, yet employers will consider them before me because they went to college. Go figure...

They are not always... I have a lot of friends that got their degrees and can't get jobs because they don't have any experiance in the field.
In other cases, college graduate are better to hire because they got the necessary knowledge to back them up for their field.

I'm going to skip over the complete obvious part of that question and tell you what my boss told me.... It's good to hire college grads bc they are able to follow through on what they start. If they can fufill a 4 year commitment, then they van fufill goals at work.

no longer in most circumstances. merely having a BA or BS shows dedication, the potential to end what you commence and an publicity to extreme wondering. In some fields it concerns extra then others, and some organizations recruit from certain faculties, yet on the classic they flow on skills, extra healthful and ability. once you've the grades and $ to flow to an ivy-league college it in person-friendly words advantages you, many times isn't the biggest requirement for a job with a correct company.

that is not totally accurate. A college degree does not make you a better employee. Work ethics is what makes a good or bad employee (depends on your type of ethic)
