I know this is a stupid question, and I know you people are getting sick of my dvd questions, but I appreciate your answers and your patience.

No, 16x is the maximum speed your burner writes to DVD media. You can use any DVD or CD-R/RW. Check to see if DVD+/-R will work with your application.

If you want to burn at 16x, then yup its best to buy disks that can burn at 16x. But you can buy slower disks and set the burn speed to match the disk in the burning program.

No you dont have to use 16x .. you can use any speed disc but it will only burn at 16x max speed..

You can use slower ones, but you'd have to change the burning speed for your drive. Nero Burning ROM allows you to do this easily.

you can use any disk your burner will only go as fast as the disk you have or as fast as the burner which ever comes first
