in hinged handcuffs behind her back...if you have ever been in them, you know they are not forgiving at all...the allow for no movement....and small female wrists are almost certain to bruise...the bottom line is they hurt terribly...especially when they are applied tightly behind the back and you have to sit seatbelted in the back of a police cruiser..that is torture

And, on top of that she was shackled at the ankles..there is no excuse to treat a female like that...did they make her wear a chain attached to her waist also, so wonder she was in pain and could not move..it is not fair at all to a woman

If this had been Europe, then this wouldn't happen unless she killed someone. But here in the US, it's the police's duty to secure a prisoner for transport, and an unruly prisoner needs to be more secured. It seems that the circumstances warrented the level of "treatment", regardless of gender.

Amber? Amber? Who the F is Amber!?

As to what you said: "there is no excuse to treat a female like that..." How would you treat a female who had, for instance, chopped your pecker off? Or maliciously killed your child?? With a smile and a thank you?

She was driving drunk, under the influence, she was probably being incoherent. How can we trust what she is saying... I don't feel too sorry for her... she could have killed someone. She seemed more worried about how she was embarrassed in front of her friends than she was about the lives she put at risk by driving drunk.
So what if she is female... does that mean if she killed someone, the law should be easier on her, just because of her gender?
