There are two ways to think of love. They seem to conflict, but are both parts of the whole.

We love with our chemical and biological make-up. That is to say what we call "love" is a responce in our bodies and minds to something or someone pleasant. We love someone because they get us high on our own brain chemicals.

Then there is the part of love that the poets write about that we will never be able to completely understand. This is the divine and spiritual part of love.

First, love is important and also keep in mind that there are MANY ways to love.
Second, sorry to break the news to you, but there isn't a "Love Checklist" or rules to attain such.
We love because we are human, and God gave us that gift. We love with out hearts and minds - that strong feeling you get deep down. It's just something that happens. On a personal note, I do not believe that you can MAKE yourself love something/one. Your heart and mind fight it, and you'll know deep down it's not love. Hope this helped a little. :)
