Thats normal, I'm assuiming that the surrounding area was lighter than where the paper was.

Just cover the lighter area and leave the darkened spot out in the sun and the colors will start to even out again.

The sun is just bleaching the wood or wood finish that you have on the table. :-)

If it was left there over a long period of time, then the table around it has weathered but the table underneath it has not. This is not so much a stain as a lack of weathering and the only way I can see to solve it is to weather the area that was under the table. This could occur naturally if the table stays outside a few years. Not sure if there is a way to speed it up. Bleach is one idea but that'd be risky. There are ways of speeding up weathering, do a Google search on them.

Need to know what kind of table. Wood? Formica? Did it fade around the paper from being in the sun, or did the paper stain the table?

I may be thinking too much on this one... but if you covered the sun-faded areas with paper and left the dark area exposed in the sun... you may be able to even it out...?
