Better for the rearing of children. But make sure that you marry the right person, not a gold digger or someone who wants to run away if things get tough. You have actually got to like the other person the way they are, and also, try to understand the opposite sex.
We're not the same despite what feminists would have you believe.
Otherwise, don't get married. But less so, don't be a single parent by choice. That, really is selfish.

IN THE NEWS: The Pros and Cons of Marriage
-----------------------------------------------------------------
According to studies by the National Marriage Project, marriages
just aren't as happy as they were a generation ago.
Says project co-director Barbara Dafoe Whitehead, "There's a
growing gap between what's ideal and what really happens" in
marriage, adding "It doesn't surprise me that so many people are
discontent with what they get."
http://www.bergen.com/home/marry13200008131.htm
Part of the growing 'marriage movement,' the National Marriage
Project seeks to strengthen the institution of marriage through
research and public discussion. For more about the movement:
http://www.marriagemovement.org
Critics, however, charge the Project is conducting a "political
campaign, not a research project" that stigmatizes single
parents, step families, gay and other unconventional couples.
A national organization, the Alternatives to Marriage Project,
promotes "family diversity:"

Leave it to an economist, though, to frame the issue in dollars
and cents. In a study released last year, Dartmouth professor
David Blancheflower found that a lasting marriage brings as much
happiness as having an additional $100,000 in annual income:

People either expect you to change or not to.
Usually its lots of pressure to have kids and behave in a way you don't like . Ie if you liked dancing on tables in a rock bar nasty folk sy you can't do that no you are married you must get pregnant etc.
or woemn expect guys to change and be something they are not...
You seen how much it costs? better on a house deposit or holiday.
Then there is the divorce rate, couples don't hand with mates etc

If you don't love your partner deeply, you shouldn't marry him.
Why are you asking in the TRAVEL section? Well, a marriage or a realtionship is a travel in itself:you discover and rediscover each other, support and create new life. It's really fun to LOVE.
I hope you find the one for you and be very, very happy.
