Sometimes, but other times it seems to be the greatest species to be a part of. I guess this is why most of us don't identify with the whole human species. We pick religions, races, genders, what have you. That way when some groups of humans make us look bad, we can say "we're not those people". I don't think it's true, but too many of us do.

yes i am, 1) as a member of a species that has single handedly ran into extiction in the last 5,000 yrs several hundred species, with more on the verge of going extinct

2) for being a member of a species that knows war more then anythin else, from the days of the roman empire, fuedalist china, crusades of the middle ages, and more wars around the world in the last 200 yrs then in the last 10,000 year of human civilization

3) as not to affend BUT) the exceptence of simplistic, arrogant, and sometime blind religions that, on one hand, teach tolorane and love, but on the other go out of there way to sluaghter and force others to "their" way of living (the crusades, and islamo-terrorists)

4) and lastly and possibly the best reason) for using science as a tool of death, nuclear weapons anyone?.... science is a tool, like a hammer can be used to pound a nail, it also can be used to crack open a skull. science has givin us an unpresidented window into our universe, our planet, and ourselves. it has givin us cures for many desieces, but had been use to create them also, has been used to enhance life or take it. science is the one thing that seperates use from our genitic cousins (ape, monkeys) we should use it as an tool for answering the great questions. so to answer your question, yes i am embarred, if i was ever confronted by ET and asked why we humans should live, ide be hard pressed to find an adequete answer, ide like to tell him to come back in the next millenium, but with overpopulation, and global warming, ill doubt humans will be here

No, because I AM a human, very different from many of those who are just in human body... Consciousness represents humanity, not the fact that you can make or use computer.

While disappointed in myself, and fellow human beings from time to time, I cannot say that I'm embarrassed to be human.

Usually at least once per day. Or as many times as I come in contact with someone so incredibly ignorant, that I shake my head in shame.
