Any service that you provide for another is work.

Yes. I used to be a dog walker at the age of 14. It was my job. I worked for my pittance. It was all I could manage at the time, being too young to be employable, and I was there every day, same time, come torrential rain, snow and ice, blazing sun, or blinding fog. I really worked for my £8 a week.

A paper round is a standardised, regular work. You must arrive on time, you must complete objectives, e.g. deliveries, and you are providing a service. You run the risk of being fired or else not paid if the job is not done. You answer to a higher order. Sounds like work to me.

It is work, you are informing the nation of important events.

In the UK at least the working time regulations act says that you cant start paper rounds until a certain time (630am i think) so under the law it is work.

Tell your dad it is work.
It is also very hard work.
Early morning bike riding regardless of the weather is one thing that most adult employees would go on strike about.
If your dad doesn't think it's work, get him to follow you tomorrow morning and see if he can keep up !

Without a photo there's no way to tell. You might think that's a BS answer, but it's a fact.

Depends on age and qualifications. If you are still young and at school yes but if you are older (but below retirement age) and have qualifications no. If you are over retirement age yes again.

It was the first thing to go on my cv.... proving I was punctual(on time), reliable (rain or shine), a hard worker (not every one wants to do it), independant, outgoing, enthusiastic... etc etc

Tell your dad he should be proud!! I`m sure he is...

You perform a task, you get paid for it, so it is work, but might not be a job.
