It is a oil stain and so you cannot use water based products on it.
You can use "goo gone" it is sold at Zellers.
If you prefer a home remedy or are strapped for cash take vinegar and hot water. This should take care of it.
However, if this cooking oil is built up sludge on walls and not an oil stain like I am picturing it use Mr.Clean and VERY hot water. Wipe the surface down. Let Dry. Wipe it down again. It may take several tries. Grease and/or oil is very hard to wipe down. Change your cloths often.
My best advice is that be prepared that it my not come off. You may just have to scrape the paint stained with this oil off and do a slight bit of touch of work. Oh well...could be worse right?

Hardware stores sell a product called "Soil Ax." It is a potent degreaser. Follow the directions, and be sure to wear gloves!
If you can't find Soil Ax, try Simple Green. It is also at hardware stores and is an organic degreaser. It also does an excellent job!
Good Luck!
