I'm assuming you're asking with the assumption that you can't (or don't want to) get off the island, that you have the right hardware to use one or the other, and that you have an unlimited supply of electricity to power it.
Clearly, the Internet would be the wiser choice, as you could then be able to better choose your content (and stream video), rather than be driven mad by the frivolity of cable TV. (4000 channels and still there's nothing to watch!!)

You could have both on a cable modem, couldn't you? But I think I would choose the internet so I could come online and answer questions of course, chat, surf the net, and do all that other stuff. I wouldn't be so lonely if I could still chat with people. With cable I wouldn't be able to talk to anyone.

Internet! You could contact someone to help you! And you can watch television shows on them! But wait.. we don't have a television or a computer here? What is the point of having cable or internet if you have no T.V or Computer???

so what if i had cable or internet..... i would need televison for the cable to work along with electricity.... and for the internet i would need a computer with electricity to have the internet to work....
but if i had the right equipment i would have the internet... i'm i get lonley i can talk to someone, or watch tv... if i want to get off the island... i would communicate with someone to send a search party for me. with the cable it's only one way... you can hear the news but the news can hear your help...
