The best soap currently on the air is The Young & The Restless. This show has great, compelling character driven drama that keeps you hooked. Every day something happens and if you miss one, you seem out of the loop sometimes. Great writing enhances great acting and this show has that.
A close second in my opinion is General Hospital. Now that Charles Pratt Jr. is no longer with the show, I believe it is in a creative upswing. If you want to know a good message board to talk about soaps on, let me know and I'll give you the link.

I love All My Children and General Hospital. Soap operas are tricky because even your favorites can have story lines which you really hate and don't want to watch.

I personally dig "Guilding Light"....but shhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone. I can't help it, I'm addicted. I even Tivo it when I'm not home...how's that for pathetic ?!
