If he's into sports then something that relates to that sport.
A gift card to WalMart, Targets, Toys~R~Us or another place so he can shop for himself.
Take him out for pizza and a movie (his choice of course)

You cant go wrong with Transformers.... Theyre More Than Meets the Eye. :D
Theyre a big honkin' Robot, and a vehicle of some sorts !!!!
I loved them as a kid, My Niece loves them, My Nephew loves them, and I STILL love them....
Plus with the big budget movie coming out next year to the big screen, you'll be "the hip happin' cool in the know" Aunt, if you arent already....

Not sure what he's into, but my little brother loves video games! Maybe a gift card to best buy, circuit city, or a video game store. That way he can choose what he wants. I bought my little brother a gift card to Target last year, that way he had a variety of things to choose from :)

I advise you to check the age on the toy box, b/c if you chose the right toy it will challenge the child intelligence at that age written on the back so he or she learns and have fun at the same time

My son likes...ahem...loves video games, whether they be from a cd or playstation, xbox, etc. Also, the heelies are pretty popular, along with skateboards or rollerblades. Enjoy!

Get him something that can be put together fast taken outside and played with immediately, like an Air hog plane or spinner or something.

Humm...I think that you should get him some sort of project that involves his attention, following directions, and in the end, feeling of accomplishment. I think a miniature car model would be great.
