Are you talking about a person's mental state or attitude or lifestyle? In that case normal is their perception of what their mental state, attitude and lifestyle is. Anything outside those parameters is abnormal. What is normal who sets the standard for normal? What may seen normal or usual to me may seem horribly abnormal to you and vice versa. When someone talks about someone being normal it's my thought that they have a small range of vision as to how things should be.

there is an old saying - the only people that are normal are the people you don't know well enough yet. the tough part is finding someone who's 'normal' is the same as yours :)
