Me and my husband recieved a check on Monday from Oceanic Royal Sweepstakes, and we were tempted to go to the bank. I thought about it for a minute.Did research online didn't find anything about the place. I found the number online for Wells Fargo and emailed the check to someone and they called me back and told me that it was a scam that they had alot of checks coming to them, and not to cash it or your account will bounce. We just want everyone to know that if they get a check along with letter to trash it right away..Do not attempt to try and cash it no matter how much you are hurting for money..

Just received my CONGRATS letter today...the area code is from British Columbia, just as is the return address...however, not having spelled my name correctly and having "tried to contact you by telephone but were unable to reach you" when someone is always at the home phone, leads me to believe this is really a scam of some sort...in addition, if someone was truly running a valid sweepstakes operation, one would think that their official notification letter would be a bit more professionally typed and proof-read...I agree with one other recipient - chances are this is a DUCK.

If it sounds like a duck, looks like a duck and walks like a duck, its probably a duck. Internet scams are probably in the millions and this just may be another one. Who amongst us has not gotten the letter from Nigeria or other far away places saying they want to deposit millions of dollars in our account, but first they need a show of faith, etc. Don't fall for it.

Got a check in the mail today from ORS! One of the two addresses for the banks looks STAMPED on! Called the number to tell them to take me off their list, no room to leave a message, go figure! Glad you guys posted the info. Hope others take the time to look around. I am going to report it to snopes.com as well!
