Interesting question, but the story is supposed to make you pose that question. So far, so good.
The story does address some rather big issues. Is your question a passing curiosity or did this interest of yours exist before your introduction to the story? The story has been a rather popular issue since it's publication.
"The Da Vinci Code" is fiction based on tangential truths or elements of truth. The story is very dramatized fiction aimed at drawing attention and sell, but it wouldn't be that interesting if it had no hint of truth. If there was no resemblance to truth you wouldn't be asking this question. Yes, there is truths in the story and these "truths" are then "used" to tell a story.
You should take the elements that you think might be true or at the very least interesting to you. Think for yourself about what they are saying, does it in any way seem plausible? There is embarrassing truths contained in the story, but the research to discover to which degree for the entire story would be exhaustive.
Don't let anybody else tell you what is true or not, find out for yourself --this is researchable to a point where you with some common sense should be able to get pretty close (if have the resources). Be careful and consider your motives before you start. Do you really want to know? You may find the elements you perhaps least expected, to be true. What are going to do with what you find out, are you prepared to act on it? Have you stopped to consider that the truth could change your life and perhaps in a way that the story never mentioned. It could be very surprising to you which parts were true? Is it important to you, otherwise scrap it and find another hobby.

The author, director, and anyone else who had anything to do with the making of that book or movie have all acknowledged that it was a work of fiction.
