you can go to most store that have "money order' sign and they range from free to as high as 3.00
I would think .50 is reasonable but I've got money order for free from my bank

NO, but yoy definitely want to hang on tight to your receipt. If someone were to get ahold of it, they could contact themoney order carrier and put a stop pymt on it and have a new one re-issued to them. They are always cheaper to purchase at a convnc store vs your bank or the post ofc.

No, I think you need one only to cash in a money order.
