All creatures sleep. How they sleep depends on the species. Flies cannot flit around unendingly, they have to stop to feed and rest. Even fish sleep.

Answer: I'm no expert on the pests, but I'd say they don't. The problem,
though, is that sleep is not easy to define even in humans. We don't
understand what happens to our bodies when we sleep, how we sleep, or why
(although there are ideas about each of these). I think sleep is basically
defined as the unusual pattern in the electrical signals given off by the
brains of people who say (later) that they've been asleep. Kind of a
circular definition, eh? We can surmise that cats and dogs sleep because
they act like sleeping people --- lay down, close their eyes, don't
respond, snore and twitch when dreaming --- and they probably have similar
patterns in the electrical signals from their brains, though I don't know.
But with flies, now, they're so different that not seeing the same
behavior doesn't say much. Still, I'd say they don't because the most
convincing hypothesis I've heard about the reason for sleep is that it is
part of learning, and I've also heard that flies are capable of learning
anything at all. That's an argument, but by no means an answer. Sorry.

If you get fly's in your house look at the ceiling at night. You will see that they are on the ceiling and they will stay there for the night. Have a fly swatter in your hand when you are looking. I don't know if they are really asleep or not but they seem to be a little sluggish, but when you swat one they wake up if they are sleeping, that is if they live through the swat.

Yes they do. They sleep in little fly houses containing tiny fly hammocks. Sometimes 30 to a room.

They totally do. They sleep as much as people do. But I think their sleep pattern of course is faster; they just become immobile and can wake up real fast.
I've caught flies asleep; they don't react as quickly or seem confused. I sent them to "the great sleep".

This is a common misconception. Sheep do not fly. However, they do nest in trees, especially when they are pining for other sheep.

Flies do not sleep because they do not live long enough.
