I think being born and growing up as a South Asian girl in North America, we all just wanted to blend in with the rest of the average folk (caucasians). I was obsessed with become fair but that was impossible. I would put on my mom's foundation (who is very fair) and look like some white ghost. It was not me. It was unnatural.
Eventually as you grow older, you realized that that is not what life is all about: being like some your not just to fit in. Variety is beauty.
If everyone on earth looked the same, wouldnt this place be a very boring place to be?? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Whether you are black, brown, white or even purple, its what's inside that counts.

I am not Indian or Asian either but I really don't understand why these people want to have lighter skin! Most asian/indian girls I have seen around have the most beautiful mocha colour skin and stunning long dark shiny hair. It seems that those with fair skin spend ages trying to look darker and those with dark skin want to look lighter! Stop - variety is the spice of life - and you don't want to end up like micheal jackson lol
