The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.

I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.

Associations may be a good avenue to explore as well. These organizations will address many of the thoughts, questions and concerns you'll inevitably have as well as many you haven't anticipated yet. See the source box for some relevant links.

Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can about the industry. Here are some book titles that are relevant:

* How to Setup and Operate a Successful Nightclub: An Entrepreneur's Guide to Running a Profitable Club Operation by Robert Smith
* Bar and Club Design by Bethan Ryder
* Start Your Own Bar and Tavern (Entrepreneur Magazine's Start Ups) by Entrepreneur Press
* Upstart Guide Owning & Managing Bar or Tavern by Roy S. Alonzo

I also posted links to some free articles in the source box.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

Research the law
research the costs / business model
research the market / competition (look for un-met needs or wants)
research the demographics / traffic patterns and look for locations
get a lawyer who's done this before
get funding / investors

get a liquor license (if you can)
place an ad in various places - newspaper, the "alternative" weekly, college campuses (esp the local community college) for "nightclub staff"
do a telephone pre-interview - that's when you screen out the guys "sorry, we don't need guys right now, but if you know any girls, have them call" and if it's a girl that's when she finds out what kind of nightclub. Ask her if she's ok with waitressing (fully clothed) and mention casually that you're also looking for dancers if you know anyone, they can make several hundred $ per night, maybe more.

Can you take it from there chief? By the way, I'm available to help with the in-person interviews.

It depends on where it is. One piece of advice, I've personally seen over 15 gentlemans club, go out of business. The main reason, is they let overhead get way out of hand.

Also, speaking of overhead, this advice is priceless. The 15 gentlemans club that went out of business had at least 30 foot ceilings. One club owner bought the building of a club that had been through 3 owners. The latest owner came in and first thing, dropped the ceilings, and that was all he did. He spent 1/3 the amount the others did on initial marketing and he's still in business.
