'Alex' and 'WilliamJ' are the worst kind of idiots. It's amazing how many naive Americans like to say "if Chavez is sticking it to Bush he must not be all that bad." Hugo Chavez is dictator and regional troublemaker. 1.) The guy's seizing private farms and giving it to poor people in order to shore up his support from the poor 2.) He's started a civilian militia and is arming them in the event of an outside threat. We all know it's a method of keeping himself installed as ruler by loyal gun-weilding supporters. 3.) Chavez is in the process of changing the Venezuelan constitution to get rid of presidential term limits. 4.) Why the need for an AK-47 manufacturing plant and 10 million new rifles purchased by his regime? Of course, these weapons will spill over into neighboring Colombia and further help destabilize a true U.S. ally and a nation literally fighting against terrorists and drug-traffickers for its freedom. Talk to anyone from Venezuela, Romania, East Germany or any other countries that have lived under tyranny. Seriously, Does that make Osama Bin Laden a "cool dude" because he's also in Bush's face? What about Castro, who tried to start WWIII by urging Kruschev to launch a preemptive nucleal strike? Yes folks, that's the real reason why no U.S. president will ever lift the embargo until the old guy croaks. Chavez is a totalitarian dictator and the worst is yet to come unless the Venezuelan people rise up and do something about him.

I doubt very much whether his measures to solve the ongoing problems of poverty in Venezuela are going to be effective in the long run. Who knows when a leader truly cares for his people.I thought Toledo was going to be good for Peru, but it doesn"t seem much has changed for the poor who seem always to be struggling for a better life for themselves.
