No brainer. It provides the opportunity for us not only to have the entirety of human knowledge at our fingertips, but to be able to carry it around with us.

I agree with alvin. I'm sitting here on a laptop about 20 feet away from a wireless router. I can go outside, upstairs, in the attic or down in the basement, and I'll always be connected to the outside world. Soon, the 802.11n standard is coming out, featuring a 50 meter range and a 200 Mbit/s typical connection. Sounds wonderful, and it is.

Parallel storage. This is a method of magnetizing bits vertically, instead of horizontally, on a disc, and the result is 10 times the storage on the same size disc. Not in stores yet. After that, it is fast SATA buses, as this causes the ram not to have to wait as long for data to get off the hdd.

they are starting to look at some different ways of making processors that is both breaking the bariers for speed but also cost.
This will keep the cost of computers down and will enable us to run even more complex programs... the benifits to this are too numerous to list, it will eventually take us to a new stage in our development
Ive also seen work done on a way for our brains to directly control simple computer functions.. THIS WILL CHANGE EVERYTHING when it is perfected

The standardization of USB ports. This has given PC compatible computers a true plug and play capability that they never had before. It also revolutionized the use of the serial ports without making major configurations each time you change something.
