Do not know from Texas, but I have seen it from Fort lauderdale, it is about 30 seconds to a minute after actual launch. It was from Lauderdale I saw the twin smoke clouds of Challenger. I live in New england now, and several years back they launched a polar route. Isaw that baby soar over new hampshire.

Sadly, no. Texas is too far away.
Orlando is about 40 miles west of Kennedy Space Center, and you can't even observe it from there. I have, however seen it in the night sky from about 15 miles south.

Texans can see the space station at times, or when the shuttle comes in to land (I have!). We can't see it launch, though.

You might if they still ran the shuttles. But they shut the program down awhile ago..
So you would have a better chance of seeing flying saucers at this point..teehee;-)

about the who mountain response, i dont know all the geographics btwn tx n there, but they launch off the east coast over the ocean, not the gulf on the west coast, so's i would say not likley
