I'd wash the vehicle and awning first with Dawn dish soap and water first. Then use Goo Gone. Apply liberally and let it soak in a bit. then use a soft towel / cloth to wipe clean. You may have to re apply until it all will come free.

Check it out... Gum Turpintine (a natural solvent) is made from tree sap. It will desolve the tree sap on your vehicle, but may leave an oily residue. However, Lestoil, Pinesol, or other cleaning products may prove to be better.Try to remove the glob with something like a plastic knife. Then go in for the kill with the solvents. BobV. from Ma.

A product called Lestoil.....it's even great with getting grease stains off of clothes......you can also try this product called goo gone, but it might mess up any paint surface....Try the Lastoil, it safer for painted surfaces.

I've use the Bug/Tar remover that can be found in the auto section, just make sure you don't let it sit too long before wiping it off.
