Both are unimaginable. Murder not only affects the person whose life is cut short but also all of their family and friends. Rape also affects more than just the victim, however you are alive, your family and friends can still hold you and with help you can recover from this crime of violence against you. So I would say murder should have the greater punishment. However I do think that the judicial system is too lenient on rapists.

the sexual abuse of children.. the child is oftenly altered for life and challenged by a situation that was beyond their control.. the offender gets a free pass with probation or a suspended sentence for a first offense.. a short jail term for the second and they finally get serious for the third..
Do you really think being registered as a sex offender protects children from these twisted individuals? Kids are everywhere.. and so are the perverts looking for a easy target. Why can't the legal system figure this out? Rape of a child is typically the equivalent of a life sentence for a crime the child didn't even commit.. why should it be anything less for the creep that actually did it? .. put them away.. jail then mental facility.. don't give them 3 chances to ruin 3 (or more) lives.. mandatory sentences for first time offenders.. this will give them a chance to acknowledge that they need some behavior modification. Throw away the key for repeat offenders, they had a chance to change.

This is a circumstantial question. I despise rape the most in most cases, but often the combination of the two I would say is absolutely the worst.

Rape is in need of harsher punishments because judges don't seem to want to enforce the laws against it. Raping someone creates permanent damage to that person, especially when they see the rapist freed a few years later or never sent to jail in the first place.

It is sickening.

Spousal and child abuse deserves harsher punishment. Rape or murder is a very vile act and either deserves at least life imprisonment. People that committ these horrible acts do not deserve a second chance to do it again!

Murder is far worse. The victim does not get the opportunity to recover from it.

Rape is a heinous crime. It leaves the victim with so much to overcome.

The key thing is that the victim of a rape has a chance to put their life back together and to someday get over it.

Both are horrible crimes.

Hi,

I believe that rape is the murder of the soul...the rape of a child is the worst in my eyes. Those who are murdered have families and loved ones left behind who suffer.

It's a tough call, but I would have to choose rape.

Murder naturally as one has taken someone's life. I personally know rape is hard on a person and yes, I want to see them burn in hell for taking what wasn't theirs to take. I can't see however leving a death sentence or life sentence for it unless the circumstances were heinous, like mutilation. Besides the inmates find out a man is in for rape, the rapist tail is grass and the others are the lawm mowers. They get harassed and no peace.

Murder. Rape can be emotionally damaging, but it only has lasting/powerful effects on a small number of victims. Nobody recovers from murder.

Anytime you violate another person you must be punished . As for the degree of punishment it depends on circumstances.
