according to the evolutionary theory there would have been a egg,in which a chicken was created from something that was almost a chicken. Random mutation caused the creature that was similiar to a present day chicken to produce this egg. It was a succesful mutation and kept on reproducing itself. So the answer is the egg came first.

I answered this one before, but here it goes.
1. Fundamentalism- God created all the animals and man. Adam was created as an adult. It would stand to reason that all the animals were adults too. Thus, the chicken came first.
2. Evolutionism- Change occurs in the DNA of an earlier species makinga newer species. Dinosaurs turned into birds; birds diversified into pre-chickens, pre-pigeons, etc.; these pre (or proto) chickens laid eggs that had mutated closer to the chicken of today. Hence, the egg came first.

If you believe in the Bible then the chicken came first because God created all the animals before making man. If you subscribe to one of the theories of evolution you would probably have to conclude that the egg came first. Changes occur in nature due to mutations. So the mutation that created the first chicken probably occured while the chick was still in the egg stage of development. But ofcourse that's just my opinion.

For a believer, God created everything which was first. For that too, even an egg could have been the first. For a non-believer, science is yet to prove by evolution theories egg or chicken came first. For the present it is left to your choice and will be right whichever way you decide. How powerful are you?

Obviously the chicken came first, because it requires the warmth of a chicken to hatch the egg. The egg will not hatch without the chicken's warmth.
