Yup. There was a meat shop somewhere and the owner kept a parrot. When ever the owner had to leave he kept the parrot in charge of the shop. When costumers came they told the parrot what they wanted and the quantity, name then left. When the owner came back the parrot recited the order for him to prepare... animals talk all right. There were 2 parrots that used to wander around the streets. When a person walked by the parrots started acting and talking to each other to get attention. The girl one says "I'm hungry" when the other says "Yeah right, like he'll pay you" etc. and the passerby always seemed impressed enough to give them money. By the end of the day the owner of them came by to collect money.... weird eh?...

We are relatively convinced that our 100+ pound Johnson type American Bulldog is telepathic. If I think of rough-housing with my wife or kids, just THINK of it, he commonly jumps up, rushes me and clamps onto my arm. When my wife is still across town, but on her way home, he'll go and sit by the door -- even though she hasn't called and does not have a set schedule for return. If my six year old is about to have a seizure, he comes and gets me often 20 minutes in advance, even when the ekg cannot predict it. Before my wife was in a car accident, he shouldered his way between her and the front door and became very forceful over not wanting her to leave. In the past 6-months, I have not been able to sneak up on him and start wrestling him while he's sleeping. Every time I think of it, I look at him only to find him looking back at me wide awake and at ready.

Stay off the drugs. Most animals don't have an ability to formulate the same type of sounds as humans, even if they were able to 'repeat' us like some known animals that can 'speak' (parrots, etc.). Those that do, are just mimicking though.

Perhaps seek medical help.... or... maybe the cats were aliens.. or a secret society living amongst us.

I've heard of people training cat's or dogs to make sounds that resemble human words or phrases. Cat's and dogs don't have the neural capacity for abstract thought so they are just performing for a treat or praise when they do such things.

There have been great apes who have been taught to say a few words, which they do have the capacity to understand, but they don't have the vocal tract for proper speech.

Certain birds can speak, and a few have some capacity to associate words with objects.

It sounds like you're joking and I think you are. But to answer the question seriously (as a linguist and anthropologist myself) there are no known animals that can produce language AS WE DEFINE IT. Yes, there are some animals that have advanced call systems, but language is, by definition, adaptable to any circumstance and capable of communicating complex details. Even Koko the gorilla is not really "speaking," she's just learning to equate symbols with thoughts in her relatively complex non-human brain.

They communicate with each other... so in a sense they do speak, but they don't necessarily speak like a human. Also it is believed that dolphins and porpoises have a language that is highly developed and they speak 15 times faster than we do. Parrots can speak our language by mimic, but the African Parrot is known to not just mimic but put to use what it knows of our language.

Animals are souls too. Not only they can speak but also can hear & understand our own languages. eg. my big she goat (mimi) once had a sour on her ace and i treated her with a hot drug every two days. Now, all of us were in the kitchen cooking while mimi lay by the corner chewing the curb. we finished cooking & it was time to administer the drug on the goat. i said to my younger brother "pls. dear, bring mimi's drug..." mimi on hearing this quickly rushed outside, into the rain. I was very surprised while my mum became afraid and cried for no apparent reason. she couldn't believe it.

i dont wanna sound like a religious nut, but in the Muslim religion, animals talking is a sign of the day of judgement nearing. So it is very possible, there were accounts of animals talking in the time of the Prophet.
