People always say it's wise to retire at the top.
But honestly speaking, Beckham still has his influence on England team. I hope to see him in the next world cup.

Beckham won't be back. There was talk of him being left off the 2010 squad before going into this world cup, but for sure now, he is off. Unfortunate for him that the England Team he captained was seen as weaker because of him as captain.

I've only ever watched one English world cup game - last Sunday's 1-0 win, I know nothing about soccer... and even I know that there's no chance that he'll be able to contribute in another 4 years. It's time for him to step aside gracefully.
