Okay, I had been on the Depo BC Shots since 2001 and stopped in July of 2005. I hadn't received my period so at the beginning of the month, I was prescribed Provera pills for 10 days and have been off of them for a week now and still haven't had my period. Is something wrong, is this normal?

I also have Epilepsy and have been on meds controlling that since the late 90s until November of 2005, due to lack of funds to pay for it. I am thinking I may be going through early early menopause as I am only 21. I am very worried and don't have a doctor but the HD physician is the one who has been examing me and she thinks something may be seriously wrong also.

Warning, do not take provera or any other simulated progesterine hormone! Serious Health Risks!!!

I was on ortho-tricylene for 5 years, then ortho-evra (the patch) for 9 months, went back to the pill for about a year. After taking the patch, everything changed, not just my period. I went back to the pill for a while, but things only got worse. I have been off all birth control for a year now. No period whatsoever. The doc put me on two rounds of provera in Oct & again in Nov. & that didn't do anything but make me mean, angry, emotional & feel like I was going crazy.

Funny, I also went off bc in July last year & no period since then.

After I began researching & learning more about provera, birth control & all these simulated hormones the doctors/obgyn's keep pumping into us- I was horrified!

I went to see a different doctor, who ran some detailed blood work. They thought I might even be in early menopause brought on by the effects of birth control (as far as messing with our body's natural hormone production).

Turns out my prolactin hormone level is elevated (along with other elevated hormones). My adrenal glands are also not functioning properly. So the reason I am not having a period is because of this hormone imbalance.

I am waiting to see an endocrinologist (hormone specialist) to find out the cause and how to correct this imbalance.

You may want to have your doctor run some blood tests. Lack of a period can often be caused by hormonal imbalances & disorders in the Thyroid, Pituitary, & Adrenal Glands.

But I will tell you and all other women out there. Birth Control, Provera, Progesterone creams/pills have SERIOUS, SERIOUS side effects & health risks.

I will NEVER, ever take birth control again!!!

Premarin, Provera, and other hormone replacement therapies (HRT) have been linked to Breast, Cervical & Ovarian Cancer in women!!!

Don't just believe what a doctor tells you, research, be proactive in your health & be informed!

I've listed a few links to info in the source box...

Many Blessings!

I have been on Provera before and usually will have a period a couple days after I stop taking it.I think you should contact your doctor ASAP.Check out this website, it says you should bleed 3-7 days after you stop taking it.

I doubt it's normal. Give yourself a long long time to stay off any meds and things will get back to normal. Try the sympto thermal method.

It's normal... give the birth control a little bit longer to get out of your system. If you are not trying to get pregnant, use condoms when you have sex.

it took a full year! (thats right) for Depo to get out of my system, if you are sexually active use condoms..diffrent people have different systems but you may want to call your ob/gyn just to be sure
