I want to get a tattoo of a Chinese symbol. The symbol I want is one that looks like four symbols but it makes one word (the word being "optimism"). It'll be 1 inch or 1 1/2 inches high and 3 or 4 inches wide on my shoulder. I live in southern Indiana.

this is the Chinese symbol for "optimism" that I found. I now have it set to where you can e-mail me, btw.

It ranges. In the US, it's like $40-$200.

Vicki, a fair artist should do that for about $150, maybe a bit less for a girl. Be sure though, that that really means optimism. I speak and read Chinese and I've personally seen some tats that were insulting jokes! Optimism is only two characters long, so maybe see if you can find a Chinese speaker to help you. Remember, it's on your body forever.

Most places in Indiana have a "minimum charge" i got four tattoos in Indiana (from Northern Indiana) and they all had the minimum charge. the only time I got out of the minimum charge (usually 40/50 dollars) was when I knew the artist or a good friend of the artist. but that is how they make their money.

Depends on the artist. Call around to the different shops to get some price quotes.

Sounds like about 50-100 but please, please double check your symbols. I have seen a few that were nothing close to what they thought they were getting.
