This is going to be one heck of a trip down memory lane. Of course, disco didn't come about until the 70s were well underway. Until then we had Sly and the Family Stone, Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Doobie Brothers, Elton John, and so on. Pop music included a lot of one- and two-hit wonders such as Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods (Billy Don't Be a Hero, Who Do You Think You Are?), David Soul (from Starsky & Hutch TV show; do you remember Don't Give Up On Us?), Smoky (Livin' Next Door to Alice), to name just a couple. Other songs / artists I remember:
A Taste of Honey, Hoyt Axton (Della & The Dealer), Brick (Dazz, Dusic, Southern Sunset -- a really cool instrumental), Cameo, The Carpenters, The Captain and Tenille, Jim Croce, Rick Dees & His Cast of Idiots (Disco Duck), Earth, Wind & Fire, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Peter Frampton, Hall & Oates, KC & the Sunshine Band, Nicolette Larson (remember her version of Neil Young's Lotta Love?), Gordon Lightfoot, Juice Newton, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Norman Connors (You Are My Starship), The O'Jays, The Ohio Players, The Outlaws, Parliament / Funkdadelic, Pink Floyd, Poco, Red Sovine (Phantom 309), Smokey Robinson, and on and on.
Remember Jean Michel Jarre? He had an album called Oxygen. I think it came AFTER the did the soundtrack to THE YEAR OF LIVING DANGEROUSLY, starring a very young Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver.

Quite well. I saw Seals and Crofts in concert in Los Angeles. I liked James Taylor, Billy Joel, Earth Wind and Fire, and best of all...Cat Stevens. I'll even confess to Barry Manilow. Many others too, but those were the big ones.

seeing how i was born in 1980, you can say I grew up in the 70's. All my parents and their friends listen to 70's music. Earth Wind & Fire, The Delaphonics, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, Frankie Beverly & Maze, all of it. The music was is still is HOT! SOngs like Roll Bounce, Fire, Roller Coaster, Just Got Paid, and Love's Holiday are classics. Old school ROCKS!!!!!

I remember Procal Harum being one of the most played wedding tunes. Rolling Stones and Brown sugar, David Essex in Godspell and `Gonna make you a star' . Mark Bolan , Leo Sayer. The now disgraced Jonathan King and many more.
What about men wearing high healed shoes, wide lapels and wide ties and long hair.

I escaped the "Great Disco Scare" of the 70s by living a rural life in a cabin. However, I did have a record player. Joni Mitchell was pretty much my soundtrack.

The underground scene in music was way cooler.I believe they call it arena rock now.Led Zepplin,Yes,King Crimson,Supertramp,Rush,Emerson,Lake and Palmer,Styx,David Bowie.Although a couple of those artists did cross into different venues.Seventies also spurned the birth of Punk rock, via Sex Pistols,Wire, the Police,Buzzcocks.I like some of the AM rock of that era but the underground scene is still where its at.

I loved the music from the 60's & 70's....everything was so optimistic. Nowadays alot of the music is "I hate my neighbor and want to kill his cat!!" depressing cr@p.
I still listen to alot of that music (hell, I even like the Archies & The Cowsills). It reminds me of a happier time when kids could go out and play and you didn't have to worry about them getting abducted by perverts, etc.
Great stuff!!!
