I have issues with anxiety attacks and was on medication before becoming pregnant. I have spoke with my doctor and he says there is nothing I can do about that right now until after the first trimester is over. Is there anything I can take or do to help get through the next 5 weeks until the 2nd trimester?? thanks.

My sister took Zoloft (100 mgs) for the majority of her pregnancy. She was on Lexipro & Zanex before she saw the OBGYN. The doctor said those two are no-no's.
All meds are graded. If the FDA does more testing or get reports of problems from being on a med, they can downgrade that medication.
The only side effect that may occur from Zoloft, is the baby will have the meds in their system and can become colicky or cranky. My niece was neither.
Zanex has side effects of possible facial defects.

If you can withhold on any medication, that would be best. However, if you have to, a small amount shouldn't be a problem.

OK first of all passing out is not dangerous. When you have a anxiety attack and pass out, the body goes back to normal. The breathing, the heartbeat, the blood pressure everything. Then you wake up. Contact the doctor/hospital/midwife and tell her that you need to speak to a therapist and midwife about your birth and everything around it because of this. There are things one can do, like try hypnosis for instance or yoga so you learn how to focus. They can also talk to you about post partum. Your condition affects your life so much right now you need to speak to as therapist. But you have to allow this to take time. Medicine is fine but in your case it have to be with therapy as well. Good luck!

I had the same problem and I got over it once I started taking iron and folic acid and vitamins too. I had no problem since for the whole pregnancy and after. Good luck!
