When you say you turn it on and "nothing comes up," do you mean the computer turns on and nothing is displayed on the monitor? This could mean one of the cables for your monitor is defective/unplugged, your graphics card is not seated properly, or your graphics card is defective. If you don't have an expansion graphics card (PCIe, AGP, PCI), then the VGA port (onboard) may be defective. It could also mean that your monitor has crapped out entirely.

When you say you turn it on and "nothing comes up," do you mean the tower doesn't turn on at all? This could mean the AC cord for your tower may be defective, PSU switch might be set to 'off,' a few cables from your PSU need to be checked--specifically the main motherboard connection--or your PSU may be defective.

Laptop? Desktop? Laptop would be harder to work on if it is a hardware issue, whereas a desktop is much, much easier. It could also be something I didn't list. Can't really help much when you say, "nothing comes up!" Specifics, specifics, specifics!
